Back to School

So I decided to go back to school again. This time I am taking long night classes to be able to fit it in with working still. I never got around to registering for classes because I wasn't sure if I was going to get a different job so I am doing what McKay did all through college and I am crossing my fingers that it works: Go in the first day of class and ask to be in the class.

Monday night class is English 2010. I went and liked it and he said I can be in the class.

One class down.

Now tonight I am trying for Human Development, Wednesday a required computer class and Thursday morning Math because who doesn't want to do math early in the morning.

I am sure I am going to be busy but that is okay I guess. Already in this one class I have tons of work to do but I think I am going to love this class because he is teaching us good writing skills. My mom would love his class too. I am tempted to ask him if she can sit in. I think she might distract me a little too much because she'd just want to talk about our book we want to write and I'd be trying to focus on the assignment.

I am excited to go back to school. I love school.... I hate tests so I'm not going to like when those come up.

Hunter's Birthday Party

Hunter turned 8 on Saturday and was lucky enough to get baptised on his birthday. If you were there you will never forget it and if you weren't then that is probably okay that you missed it. Ember, Ruby and Roxanne sang "I Am a Child of God" and wow it was adorable.
Hunter's birthday followed the baptism and April did an adorable job of making it a pirate themed party. She had a cute treasure hunt planned out and made a cute pirate ship cake. All the kids enjoyed the hunt and the pirate booty. Chad was nice enough to do a last minute fill in for my dad as the main pirate. His pirate name... Captain Argyle. Loved it. I tried to capture a picture of each kid making a pirate Rrrr face, Presley's and Chad are the only ones I really got.

New Years and The Old Spagetti Factory

I ended up going home sick from work on Wednesday and sleeping until McKay's plane came in. Lucky for me it was 2 hours late so I got extra sleep and was able to have energy to hang out and play games at his friend Scott's house. Thursday we hung out with my family and surprised everyone with some yummy treats for the night (McKay looked like he was trying to butter up everyone into liking him). We had a family dinner of chinese food and I was not really able to enjoy it because I had no appetite. We then attempted to start playing Settler so McKay could show everyone how amazing he was but it took too long to even set up so we ran out the door and rushed to Sandy just in time to hear the countdown while we were walking up the street so we stopped and got a good kiss in and then shoved our way through the people and eventually found his friends. I was so out of it to be honest and don't really remember what went on but they turned off the dancing music at 1 and we headed back home.
New Years day we went to a Zaugg family party and I got to show off McKay then we went over to Chad and Shelly's and then drove to The Old Spagetti Factory for our tradtional holiday dinner. I ordered a caramel and chocolate flavored Italian Cream Soda and he brought me an Italian Soda with no flavor added and then gave me caramel and chocolate ice cream toppings and said I could mix it myself... Ya it didn't quite work so I ordered a strawberry Italian Soda. McKay and I both ordered food only to find neither of us had an appetite and so we ended up not eating much. I did have an appetite for my spamoni of course and I enjoyed every bit of it. It was great to be with my whole family but it is getting a little more crazy the more kids there are.
We headed to see McKay's friend Lani and drop off a Christmas gift and catch up and then we drove to Chad and Shelly's to finally play Settlers and well McKay didn't win and Shelly did.

Wrapping the Christmas Season Up Just Right

So Christmas Eve my cousin Mindy sends me a text that she has a secret mission and wants to know if I am in. I of course said yes because its Mindy and whatever Mindy has in mind is going to be exciting. She sent me an e-mail with a video and we watched it together on Christmas day. It was an AOL news report and we were going to copy the idea. The plan.... well why Chad and Shelly were out of town we wrap up their house in Christmas wrapping paper. I was so excited. I got to my brother's house around 3 and my Aunt and my cousin were there with already quite a bit done. Picture frames, T.V., shelves, candles, junk mail, coins, I got right to work with the benchs and then went for the shoe rack and the shoes then to the couch cushions, the arm rest and even the throw blanket. We wrapped books, coats, the bookshelf, the table, the chairs, the bath mat, the toilet, the medicine cabinet, the garbage can, the soap, the towels, the shampoo.... everything in their bathroom, dining room and living room and I mean everything. I started to get a little obessed feeling like every needed to be wrapped. Mindy had to convince me that I did not need to wrap the tree or the tree skirt. It took a total of 8 hours (I put in a good 6 hours) and less then 22 rolls of wrapping paper because that is how much we brought and there was leftovers. Mindy took before and after pictures and video as well. The place is covered. I am really hoping I'll be able to be there when they get home so I can see and hear their reactions but depending on the time I might not be able to. Mindy will be there for sure and will have the camcorder ready to catch the first moments of the excitement? We made sure to keep the kitchen and back entry normal so they walk in and have no idea and then walk into the dinning room and there it is their "Anniversary Inn Gift Wrap Suite".

New Obession with Etsy

So if you don't know what Etsy is you need to check it out. A website dedicated to small businesses and handmade goods. No need to pay the price of a website any more. Etsy will give you your own page and you just pay a small fee per item you post to sale on your site. I have my own page but have not become dedicated enough to use this to my full advantage (or that is what I am telling myself to help me get through the fact that I have sold nothing so far). My cousin Melissa has her homemade wreaths on Etsy and they are selling all around the world and she is having a lot of success.

My thing with Etsy is I love to type in an item and see what there is...

Luggage

Pendants

Rings

Locks and Keys

Then I save my favorites and I get to stare at my favs and dream of the day I can buy them.

Last Christmas my best friend Jenny bought me a beautifully simple pearl pendant and I fell in love with it. I loved that I could wear it everyday and it went with everything, casual to dressy. Sadly a few months ago somehow from the kitchen to my car the necklace slipped out of my hand and now I have been unable to find it. So simple pendants have been latest obsession on Etsy.

Christmas Eve Finally Came

It always seems like the days are longer when you are waiting for a special day to come. McKay flew in on Christmas Eve and I couldn't stand the wait. I had to work the morning of Christmas Eve and those 3 hours seem to last forever. Luckily we got lunch and chatted for an hour and got Christmas presents.... and maybe a Christmas bonus!!!!

Side note: Sadly enough I hate getting large sums of money because then I have to decide what to do with the money. It is a bonus... a gift so it should be used on fun stuff, things I normally don't get, things I want. But when you don't make much money and you need to pay off your line of credit or you know you should put it in savings for the next time your car needs repairs then I feel like I need to do that. Then there is the fact that I could surprise my boyfriend and buy some plane tickets to go and see him, well that would be just wonderful and I am going to be doing that anyway. Then there’s the logic, the responsible me that says... "Put it in savings and some on your line of credit" but then there's the nice me that says "you could spend just a little of it on yourself, you have to treat yourself. Buy those Muse concert tickets, or those $25 pants that you loved and would wear to work all the time, or those plum shoes that are so cute, so buy a few of those T' shirts you wanted, or you need some warm clothes for your ski trip, or why not use that $25 learn to ski pass and learn to ski and surprise your boyfriend on the ski trip, or that blow dryer you need so you can give Jenny back hers.....or use it to pay for school." Well by this time I can't decide what one thing I would like to buy so then I want to get it all and that is a lot more than the amount the bonus was for and I need to put some away in savings and need to pay off that trip to Hawaii I took last summer. Oh the joys of money. I am very grateful that I got a bonus, it even made me cry when I saw how much she gave me and I hope she didn't think I was rude for shedding a tear (I tried to not make it obvious).

Back on to McKay and the excitement... It was wonderful to see him! We were so excited to be able to be together for Christmas. We did a little shopping and then went tubing in Park City, which was so fun! I used to go tubing as a child all the time with my family and I miss those days. We took some fun pictures and enjoyed the freezing weather together. We did a little more shopping and then dropped by my cousin Melissa's house where McKay got to meet her family and they invited us to have dinner with them. It was so yummy and we enjoyed spending time with them. We even watched her family open their Christmas pajamas. After that we drove down south and I met his good friend and then his cousin and her husband. He has great friends and family and I had so much fun spending time with them. We ended up staying out a little too late so McKay ended up meeting my family Christmas morning.

So my cousin Melissa and I stayed up a little too late last night. She decided to take things into her own hands and photoshopped a picture of me and a picture of McKay together. When her husband Brian came home and saw the amazing job she did he decided to perfect it just a little. For Christmas McKay is going to get the final project framed. I know he will love it!
